A Tribute to the ANZAC Spirit in Music and Song...
Music has long inspired soldiers, and theaters of war have been fertile grounds for the arts as an expression of that which was experienced: through songs, verse, prose and art.
Here's to the Heroes is a tribute to the ANZAC Spirit in music and song which will be performed at the Country Club Tasmania at 2.30pm on ANZAC Day, April 25th.
The concert program will feature songs and music across many fields of war which featured Australian servicemen and women.
The cast of the show includes Michael Colrain, OAM, who performed for the troops in Vietnam. This fine tenor will be joined on stage by the accomplished pianist Audrey Smith, OAM, who has had her own jazz band in Sydney. Audrey has worked with Michael as accompanist over many years and the pair has recorded several albums.
The ensemble cast is rounded out with The City of Launceston RSL Brass and St Andrews Caledonian Pipe Band, formerly the band of the 12th Battalion. The pipe band's performance honours also include various Tattoos and performances at Scotland's Edinburgh and Stirling Castles.
